Adopt a Deterrent!

Although you may not be much of a cat person, cats are a great resource and deterrent of mice. Cats are natural predators, and they’re great at catching mice both inside and outside of your home. If you’re not a cat person, or you don’t want to take care of one, you have more options!

Employ Mouse Repellent.

Mouse repellent is affordable, and sometimes free! If you grow mint or bay leaves in your garden, save some leaves and stuff them into the corners of closets, doors, the basement and any other places you suspect may be entering your home. Mint repels mice, but not just the leaves; if you have mint, peppermint or spearmint essential oils, you may sprinkle that into areas to deter mice. Crush the bay leaves, and sprinkle them onto windowsills for best results. Although poisonous to pets and humans, mothballs work as a great repellent for mice; please keep these in closets and away from kids and/or pets.
